
PREISNER AT BARBICAN CINEMA, LONDON
On Sunday 11th November 2012, the Barbican Cinema will screen Kieslowski's A Short Film About Killing as part of their current series Step Into The Dark, focussing on the Seven Deadly Sins.
A regular collaborator with the film’s director, Zbigniew Preisner hosts an expanded version of an episode of the cycle of short films based on the Ten Commandments, Dekalog.
Following the screening, Preisner will join Gareth Evans for a discussion about the composer's work with Kieslowski. Disturbing, thought-provoking and filmed in harrowing detail, this film won numerous awards including the Jury Prize at the 1988 Cannes Film Festival.

SKRZEK-SBB-PREISNER ALBUM RELEASED
On 31st October 2012 Sony Poland released SBB-Skrzek-Preisner, an album of seven classic tracks from 1978-80 by the progressive rock band SBB, in new mixes produced by Zbigniew Preisner.
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Jzef Skrzek set up SBB in 1971 with the guitarist Apostolis Anthimos and the drummer Jerzy Piotrowski. SBB lays claim to be the first band to play progressive rock in Poland, combining Slavic romanticism and the rebellious dynamism of rock. In their first nine years SBB recorded a dozen best-selling albums and today SBB is still an important band with deep roots, recording and touring in Europe and North America.

DEKALOG ALBUM RERELEASED
On 27th February 2012 Sony Poland rereleases the Original Soundtrack of Dekalog in a new version, remastered by Martin Astle and repackaged by COG Design in London. The album was first released in 1987 in Poland and was reissued by Silva Screen in 2000, but for the last few years has not been widely available. The Sony release will only be available in Poland for the time being but there are plans for the album to be reissued in other countries in the coming months. THREE COLORS TRILOGY: A FILM SCORE GUIDE
Scarecrow Press has published the first major scholarly treatment of Preisner's music, Nicholas Reyland's Zbigniew Preisner's Three Colors Trilogy: A Film Score Guide. Reyland analyzes the historical context of the film scores, the life of the composer, the hermeneutic and narrative role of the music within the film, and the musical scoring techniques used for the trilogy.
